Generalisation

The extent to which results from one sample of participants can be applied to wider groups.  The generalisability of the results of a study is partly dependent on the success of the Sampling technique (e.g. was the sample representative of the population) and the representativeness of the Population chosen (for example if the sample was taken from students then it is not reasonable to generalise the results to all types of people).
