Primacy Effect
This term refers to the influence of material which comes first.
In relation to Interpersonal Perception the Primacy Effect refers to the suggestion that first impressions have a stronger influence than those perceived later (recency effect).
In relation to Memory the Primacy Effect refers to a high level of free recall for the first item in a list. This has been used as evidence of the effects of long term memory.
