Parametric Tests

These are statistical tests which assume that the Data are of a particular type.  The assumptions are that the Data are at least at the interval level of measurement,   that the scores should be drawn from a normal distribution, and that the samples must have equal or known variances.

Examples of parametric inferential statistical tests include the T-test and Pearson’s product-moment test. 

Parametric test are often preferred because they use more of the information available in the Data and are therefore more powerful in detecting significant effects or relationships.
