Punishment
In Operant conditioning this refers to an unpleasant event which suppresses a Behaviour or makes a Behaviour less likely to occur. Note that Punishment is not the same as negative reinforcement. Skinner discovered that Punishment (even though it is widely used as behavioural control) was not as effective as reinforcements possibly because Punishment does not provide feedback information about the desired behaviour.
